A warehouse fire at 436 S. Cameron St. closed Cameron St. from Market St. to Berryhill St. for several hours on the morning of Friday, July 4. According to Harrisburg Deputy Fire Chief Dan Soulier, the property, owned by Hersha Corporation, contained a large amount of stored business records and carpet remnants. The smoldering debris was removed from the building, spread outside and sprayed with class A foam by a West Shore Fire Bureau unit. Due to the confidentiality of the hotel records, the debris is being hauled away to be burned at the city incinerator. Evidence leads investigators to believe the fire was accidentally caused by homeless people living in the building, said Soulier. Harrisburg fire units and a West Shore Fire Department unit were called to the scene. No injuries were reported.
